Hi all , We have read other threads and learnt but this snake is unknown ( only had it 1 month from the DEC Ballot ) so its not a great handler:evil: --dont want to let it loose on the back lawn or put it into a warm bath . The snake shed last night ,it has eaten 3 large rats --1 the first week didnt poo after 2 weeks thought we would give it another feed 2 large rats . A few days later went into slough , maybe it will poo in shed but NO . So now not sure what to do ,if anything?? just wait ?? :?

thanks

Would you like it if someone kept making you crap on command??? Just leave the poor thing alone and let it do what it does in the normal course of events... Thery're not mammals.

I wouldn't be too worried, if the snake is feeding and shedding normally then I'd say it's probably fine.

If it explodes after the next feed your in trouble . Funny though , all of our other snakes do their white poo after 3 days and the black one 2 days later -- even the male stimson who hadn't eaten for 4 months.

I would not feed it again untill it has pooped. What are your temps like? What type of snake is it? If it has eaten 3 large rats in a month I would let nature run it's course, just be prepared for one hell of a pile. Also get it out on the grass or in the garden for a slither, just stay close enough to grab it if it makes a dash for it but they are usually fairly calm outside, that always works for my 2 Coastals and my Diamond.

Happy update :) we have been handling our snake in its enclosure .A little bit more each day finally got it out and then waited a few more times , Today we made it to the backyard ---30 seconds and WHOOOOOSH ( just the white and wee)--- but then about 1/2 hour of straining and finally !!!! a happy calm snake to put away. And no messy cage to clean , if it works like this all the time I will be very happy too , just wish this worked on the BHP .Now for sexing and naming to keep the girls happy

Took some pics if anyone wants to see

Great news, but I'll pass on the pics. I deal with enough carp (deliberate misspelling) at work.

As Jamie said, dont worry about the time frame between bodily functions. Its not an exact science.

Well fed the animals on monday night put the coastal out on the grass again and Whooosh what a great snake . No cleaning at all and put the hide on the lawn and it put its self away pick it up and its a job well done . Is this a coastal trick ( the BHP and Stimsons dont do it ) ??
