How do you guys maintain optimum temperatures (20 degrees Celsius cool end, 30-35 degrees warm end)? My click clack with heat mat is10 degrees warmer than room temperature at heat mat end, I'm taking my reading about 1cm above floor. Cool end is 2 degrees warmer than room temperature, reading is at top of cool end. Is this OK during winter for a 6mth old coastal? Temp range here is between 10 and 20 degrees at the moment. Thanks.

There is no need to get a cool side down to 20C for feeding animals.25C-32C is much more suitable range to keep them at.

Thankyou Ramsayi, the problem I'm having, from lack of experience, is maintaining the correct temps. The clickclack is 300 L x 150 D x 200 H. Plastic dosn't hold the heat in.
So the average temp at the moment is to cool for him. Where his hide is it's 15C at night. Hide is at the top, above his water, cool end. Every night he comes down and curls up on the heat mat. Heatmat is under clickclack.
Should I build an enclosure out of timber for him, as timber retains heat better.
Clickclacks are ok if you can maintain room temps at 25C, but living in SE QLD we don't have heating, so heat mat is all he's got. Should i go buy a heat cord.
Advice much appreciated.

Remember one very important thing
In the wild there are very few places in Aus that maintain temp of 25 to 30C
When you run your reptiles at that temp 24/7 you are creating a totally artificial environment
My snakes have large habitat style enclosures and most of them only bask in the 30C areas for relatively short periods before heading into the 20/25c areas
I use zero heating at night except for the GTPs which do require different criteria
