Hi guys , lived in CQ all my life and finally got to see Koorana Crocodile Farm which is only 20 min drive from my place .We went on their night tours and had a feed in their restaurant. Crocodile chowder (soup) was on the menu as well as Croc satay Kebabs ,and it tasted pretty good especially the kebabs which were a hit with the kids. There was also an awesome display of Croc leather products and other odds and ends as well as small stuffed specimens ,teeth and skulls. The night tour was great especially the commentry by the owner "John Lever" who was a great bloke and gave us all an insight into the behavour of these wonderful animals.
Many of the females were gravid and nesting, and you could here the males roaring and snapping from within their pens all around you. Many of the crocs had been relocated from FNQ and have been given a new lease of like as a breeders on this farm.
To any one ever venturing up this way I would certainly recommend stopping in here for a look some time if one gets a chance. I have attached only a couple of pics ,as the battery on my camera went Kaput. ..........Cheers Scott

I couldn't stand being in that slaughter house :(

I feel that Crocs are too much of an incredible animal to be farmed!

It's great that they're being relocated etc but the killing for skins/food/accessories? Nooooooooooooo!!!

Does anyone remember the ABC doco on Koorana?

The owner put 2 adult male crocs in adjacent pens which were not properly maintained and consequently one of them broke through the fence and killed the other. Pretty poor for somebody with 20 years experience I thought.

i saw that nagraj,i remember thinking it wasnt right ,when you farm animals for meat or skins these sort of things will happen occasionaly i spose.
i would certainly visit the place and will when im in the area.
nice pics scott

looks like you had a good time, any idea how much croc meat costs per kg? i think my herps would love it.

re-croc park

Not too sure on the price of a feed at the Koorana Restaurant as it was my wifes xmas work function and the meal was aready included.
I also saw Russell Coits signature in the guest book and the owner "John" told me that Russell had filmed his movie on site on his farm. Coits signature and a few words were also mounted in a picture frame on the wall as you enter the restaurant . I can understand the feelings of others who have read the previous thread and my intention was not to upset any one.The place was very interesting and the stories the owner told were full of genuine affection of all the breeding animals on his property...Cheers Scott

Hi Scott - no offence taken :)
Glad the owners feel affection - that's important. At least they aren't all out telling everyone crocs should just be slaughtered lol
