These enclosures look absolutely perfect! I have been trying to work out exactly how to accommodate all my future herps, and I think I have just found the best way! I have to congratulate you on these, and ask you a few questions if you don?t mind (to quieten my curious mind!)

1. Ventilation
- I cannot see any ventilation holes from this picture. Do you have any in these enclosures, or is the gap between the glass doors enough?
2. Mesh globe covers
-Just wondering a few things. Are these mesh covers home made or did you buy them? If you made them, what specifications did you use? I have been looking at something along these lines, but have not been 100% sure how to do it. These look like exactly like what I am trying to do! Also how easy is it to open these to change the light globes when needed?
3. DIY
- Did you build these yourself? If so, roughly how much did the parts cost you (per module ? ie bank of 3 high)
4. One snake on newspaper
- I noticed you have one snake on newspaper, but all the others on Breeders Choice (Or that?s what it looks like). Is the one on newspaper in quarantine (new addition to your family)? Hope you don?t mind me asking, but just am curious?
5. Heat transmission
- Do you find that the heat from say the bottom tank heats the one above it, and so on up the module?

Thanks for all of this. Sorry to dump it all on you like this at once! Again, I think these look great! :D

Cheers,
Dan

thought I would add my bit to get the post out front again, as well. Darin, I too am interested in all the things that Dan has asked

Hi, im not Darin but ill have a stab at it

1. i would think there would be ventilation in those tanks.

2.Unless you are extremely handy i would buy them, URS has some and herpshop has some good ones that the bottom come off so you can change the globes.

3.Not sure if he made them himself but i am getting some made from melamine by a cabinet maker at $250 per 3 bank just for the wood (i am getting 6, 3 banks made though), no glass, track,or electricals.Just ring around and find a cabinet maker that can do it cheap, they cam usually get wood a lot cheaper than you can.

4.No idea

5.The top tank gets hotter than the middle and bottom is cooler than the middle. So if you want to only run one thermostat for three tanks, you could keep diamonds in the bottom, coastals or other carpets in the middle and a species that like it slightly hotter on the top, this way you save on thermostat cost. Also any addditional three bank could run off the same thermostat as well.

the gap between the glass doors is no where near enough ventilation. The would be vents in the enclosure for sure.

Without going off subject I reckon a gap of a couple of mm would be plenty to allow ventilation. Any CO2 would flow out through this and be replaced by normal air from higher up.

You'd have a problem if you were using a glass aquarium as the basis for an enclosure as there's no low down escape route.

Hey Fellas,

Well the melamine cost me $55 a sheet pre cut so I would have alook again.
As it sells for $30 a sheet 2400 X 1200 X 1.8mm thick. don't get stung paying $250 for 3 sheets.

As for Vents there are None i use the key lock on the sliding glass doors to adjust ventalation in the enclosure closing it tight during winter to stop cold snaps and opening it a couple of millimetres in summer for circulation.
