Hi All,

After months of researching as well as searching APS, I know this has prob been asked before but i cant find any one thread just dedicated to INFORMATION about Darwins.

PS. Sometimes the most basic bit of information to you, may be something soemone else had no idea of previously and what you think to be a stupid question is actualy something that another person genuinly does not know the asnwer to, so PLEASE share anything you can think of in regards to your experiece/knowlege with DARWINS.

Does anyone have any tips or advise and experiences for keeping DARWIN (esp Albinos!) (of any age or hatchie-adlut) [HELP][/HELP]

-Albinos
-Husbandry
-Enclosures/ click- clack info
-When to progress from hatchie click clack to larger tank/ enclosure
-Feeding/ feeing repsonce, upping food size
-Health issues
-Temps & lighting
-Temperatment & personality
- General experiences
-etc.

You should be able to find this advice on various different different threads, not just one thread dedicated to the lot. Even look at threads about other Morelia, they will have similar basic information you can use, eg about click clacks. Only temps et are specific to each individual type of python.

Hi ya!

The albinos tend to be easier to handle than the normal darwins so I've been told.

If you get a hatchie you can start them off in a 7L sistema click clack. Put some butches paper in the bottom, a little bowl of water in the cool end (big enough for it to curl up in if it gets too hot), a light globe box or something similar in the hot end and maybe a bit of dowel screwed from one side to the other so it can perch on it. They love to climb!

You will need to put air holes in the sides and top of the click clack as well. The best way is with a soldering iron. It's just trial and error really when putting the right number of holes in. If you put too many you can always cover them up if you find you can't maintain the right temperature or put a towel over one end to cover them.

It will grow out of it pretty quick so next I'd put it in a 40L one. I wouldn't be that worried about the size of the enclosure. Just get a bigger one when you think he is getting a bit big. If he can stretch from one side of the enclosure to the other side and back then chances are it's a bit small.

If you get a yearling you could put it in a 40L click clack anywhere up to a 120L tub. 7L sistema ones you can get from wollies. All the rest try bunnings. Get ones that lock together well.

With food for a general rule feed them approximately 10-20% of their body weight. I have a set of food scales that I sit a tub on, zero it then throw my snake in. It's not that critical though. If you feed it a food item and there is no lump in its belly then you should probably feed it another or go to the next size up.

Temperature should be around 30-32 in the hot end and around 25 down the cold. (this might not be exactly right and someone else might be able to give you a better idea) I have a heat gun to monitor the temperature inside my enclosures.

I don't worry about lighting.

It all depends on the individual snake what there temperament and personality. As a whole though the albinos have a good temperament. The normal ones are a bit more snappy so I've heard.

Hope this helps! There is probably a lot I've forgotten.
