Hi guys. Got my 4 month old jungle python today, and I was just wondering if I should run a lower temp at night?

I had my exo terra 30cm cubed enclosure set up for three days to make sure I could get the temps right. I got up this morning and the globe had blown. Now this would not normally be a problem but..... This is an exo terra enclosure which utilises a 'compact top' light fitting which only takes a certain sort of globe ( not available where I live). So off I go to the reptile store in my town which doesn't have the globe I am after. I settle with buying a 40w urs basking spot globe and a ceramic fitting. I used a galvanized gutter fitting and a cd to make something that would hold the globe and fitting.

So now I am able to maintain a hot end of 34c and a cool end currently at 26c.

Will my beautiful jungle get cranky with having a basking light going on and off constantly or will this be ok. It gets bloody cold here at night so I don't want to turn off the heat source.

And last paragraph I promise, how often should I mist the enclosure to maintain humidity? Should I get a fogger or is that going overboard.

I really wanted a jungle for ever and now I got one I don't want to stuff it up. And yes I have done a lot of research into this but every situation is different and I just want to get an idea of what everyone else would do..

Thanks heaps in advance

Leave the heat on 24/7 and constant for the first 12 months, Failure to do this will result in a hatchie not feeding etc.
There is no need to mist the hatchies enclosure unless it is on a slough cycle and even then its only if the environment is not correct.

well im not an expert.. but here's my 2c worth.. being a hatchie id keep the temps up at night untill it's big enuff to hold its body temp longer. as for the basking light i would think it was ok for temporary use untill u get ceramic heater or somthing else that fits..

Thanks guys. Do you think it would matter if I swapped the globe for a ceramic heater?..

The reason I ask is someone said that they dry the air out too much.

It wont matter what heat source you use, They all will cause a dry effect.
