I cant upload any photos at the moment, cant find anything wrong at my end so I wonder if I might have used my allocation. How do I delete the old photos from the file manager to create room for new stuff?

Click on settings (top RH corner)
Under My setting - miscellaneous, click on attachments
That brings up a list of attachments, you can then check the little box next to the ones you dont want and delete

Thanks F. Just deleted a bunch of photos but still no go. When I try to upload Nikon transfer (usual source) is not coming up on the pictures library. Back to the PC and it certainly is there. Checked another forum- same deal. Problem is at my end. I just had some Windows upgrades so maybe the problem is there?

I am not familiar with Nikon Transfer, but it sounds like a sharing/permissions issue, caused by recent updates ?

Given the amount of photos you work with, wouldn't you be better off having them centrally managed (photobucket, flickr, etc.) ? You would have much more control over them, and you could share them with whichever forum/site you wanted, without having to upload to individual Sites.

Sounds good. Which comes with the highest recommendation?

I personally use photobucket, which works fine for me. Though the herping guys, Stephen, Nick, etc., tend to use flickr. They manage a lot more photos than I ever would, so flickr might be worth looking into for you.

Have a look at this:

There is plenty more similar vids/tutorials available.
