Hi

I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. We have a diamond python who's about 7 feet long now but he's refusing to eat. Its been about 2.5 to 3 months since he's eaten something now and I'm starting to worry about him.

We generally feed him large rats but we've had to throw the last three out cause he's just not interested in them. He's been very active lately which makes me think that he's hungry.

Any advice???

Maybe he's trying to hibernate ore something.
How old is he?
Has this happened before?

He's about four years old and hasn't gone this long without eating before.

He's really active of a night to so I'm not so sure that he's hibernating.

I would say he is active because he's looking for a lady diamond friend ;) not that hes hungry.

It's thier natural breeding season I wouldn't worry too much about it, just begin to offer when it starts to get warmer, some males go for 6mths without a feed but switch back onto feeding around Oct/Nov in my experience.

Nothing to worry about mate.

Wait till it warms up then offer food again , and get him a girlfriend .....

One last question... We don't quite know what sex the snake is (I've just decided that its a boy). Is this the sort of thing that a boy snake would do or it's not gender specific? I'm assuming the only way to find out the sex is to get someone experienced to sex him/her?

Sorry guys... very new at this!
