Hey everyone I just had a wild bluey drop off to me that was attacked by a jack russell. I really need some fuctrum or sntibiotics for him and typically no vets are open and no local careers have any on hand. Is there any household drugs that he can handle until tomorrow he really needs them asap.
He has been cleaned up and all cuts attended to but needs some pain relif

You can only do the best you can Aaron. He isn't going to die from infected wounds overnight. Best bet would be to dab some betadine over the wounds and leave him in a quiet place until you can see the vet tomorrow.

Blueys are a pretty hardy animal they often recover on there own. Also the stress of being tampered with by humans and put in an enclosure is often worse than the injuries sustained. What are the extent of the injuries? I'd be inclinded to let it go in a safe garden.

DON'T give it household chemicals or drugs. You don't know the dose and these may do more damage than the dog did. Clean the wounds and then give it a drink and a quiet place to spend the night with a range of temperatures. Off to the vet tomorrow, assuming it is still hanging in.

Betadine was the first medication givin to prevent any infection the extent of it's on a scale of 1-100. 90 I will be honest I dont think he will make it through the night all I want is to make it as comfortable for it as possible. he has several cuts and lacerations to his abdomen, a fairly large tooth cut in his skull and from looking at him broken ribs and internal bleeding like I said I just want him to go out in no pain (of course I would love for him to pull through) .

Unfortunatly the Bluey did not make it he actually passed away about an hour after posting the thread. like I said I didn't expect him to pull through the punctures to his whole body where extreme I just wanted him to be in as little pain as possible.
But thanks to all the well wish's

sorry to hear he didnt make it, poor lizards dont have any chance with dogs/cats/cars, etc,.. :(

why not Learner74, my herp vet prescribes fortrum for reptiles, he said its a human grade antibiotic,....and its great!!

Learner74 I think you will find there are alot of medications that can be used on both humans and animal it is the proportions that differ. betadine is also one of the most common wound dressings for herps and that is made for humans. I would never give an animal just any drug or amount with out doing some research into that method first. Again foctrum is a very common antibiotic and some vets will use the exact same anestectic on animals as they do human. I do agree with the sediment being no-one other than those suitably qualified prescribing which drug and amount for animals.
