True facts....

Dogs are pack animals...felines are solitary animals(with the exception of Lions which evolved to be pack animals in order to hunt on the open grasslands of Africa where their is relatively little cover) Pretty obvious why Dogs make better companions and pets...it comes natural to them.

The only cats I enjoy having as pets are female cats...Male cats are 9/10 out of 10 narcissistic pricks who only use you (of course I understand that these narcissistic traits are very beneficial to help a cat survive in the wild and being a solitary animal is it only natural) but I have never enjoyed a male cat as a pet...Female cats can make good pets through and some can be very affectionate.

I'm basically a dog person....however, I did have a gorgeous cat many years ago. My kids gave ... Thomas ..(very imaginative name) to me when he was a kitten. He was a gorgeous ginger brute, and I loved him to bits. When I went on my honeymoon (second marriage) we took Tom with us, and he would follow us on our walks, he was lovely.

Cats can be very affectionate...when they want to be...and lots of people really love them....if kept securely they can be great. My neighbour has 2 and they aren't allowed outside the house, she has a special run which is like a cage that runs down the side of her house, but they never get outside totally.

But for me....dogs...but dogs that don't shed their fur...that would drive me insane.

My little dog, Roger, he's a ****zu X, is the BEST.... he has a marvellous kennel....called THE HOUSE...mostly only eats chicken thighs, mostly sleeps on our bed, DEMANDS to be played with, loves ice cream, polony, sweet biscuits, dentastix, cuddles, tolerates having a bath and being clipped (by me) thinks he owns the street. And he's a rescue....we love him to bits, we think he's about 5 yrs old....we've had him for 3 yrs.

Dogs hands down, I have eaten both and feel cats are too stringy (true story). Personalaty wise having kept both, Dogs. Cats if you rather them do their thing and want a pat every now and then, in that case just get a snake.

I actullay prefer ticks and fleas over both cats and dogs.

Mum has an 8 kilo mongrel cat called thumpa. hes the only cat i like, cos he is a boss.
He only cares about us when hes hungry, and he sleeps all day. you say his name a few times and he will lift his head from his chair, open one eye, and put his head back down. can only be woken by a chip packet being crinkled (eats anything but salt and vinegar).
Hes not all up in your grill like most cats, never EVER scratches or bites. all he does when hes cranky is either slowly walk away or gently push your hand away with his back legs. hes awesome. that and you dont worry about them running away.. they always come back. unlike my great dane x bullmastiff, trip to the pound and $180 later

like everything in life it depends on your situation and what your after, dogs need more attention than cats but also dogs will never hate you and every time you come home it's OMG I MISSED YOU SOOOO MUCH cats aren't usually that fussed unless it's feed time lol.

I've had both and still think they are about the same, as long as people are responsible both are good but same works if they are irresponsible but that's for kids as much as pets also....

Well I trained my cat to sit, stay, roll over, fetch etc when told. So Id say cats can be trained too!

Both are amazing in my books! My cat makes me laugh all the time and so do my dogs!

In my experience... That's wrong! I have a male cat, had him for 6 years, he is beautiful, the most lovely cat I have ever owned. He is extremely affectionate, homely, comes when he is called 99% of time, never scratched the furniture and is so patient with my kids, rarely bites or sratches. The only bad thing I could say about him is his white fluffy hair that ends up on all our clothes. He gets on with my dogs (staff x and great Dane/Arab x), he gets along with my ferret and most other animals and all people he encounters.

I have recently acquired a female cat, who as my husband says is a typical female ;) She is a bit of bitch! She can be lovely and affectionate but when she's had enough, she's had enough and isn't shy in letting you know. If she wants to go over to my male cat, that's ok, but if he goes near her she'll growl and swipe him. The vet nicknamed her 'Time bomb' because all of a sudden she's had enough and will go you. She walks around like the boss, like she owns the place... She's only been here a week and half. I do love her already though, she definately has her own personality, much like mine ;)

As for dog or cat... I have had both since I can remember and will probably always have both. Love them each for the differences they bring.

I like both but I like cats more. Our male is very playful and very affectionate, and it's not just when he wants to be fed. His name is Sam. The female is very polite and can be affectionate, she likes to lick people's hair lol. Her name is Krystal. Both of them usually come to the door to greet the family when we come home, and sometimes they sit in the window and wait for us to come home.

Sam gets upset if he knows everyone is home but can't find one of us, and in the mornings when I get up he follows me around the house until I give him a cuddle, and sometimes he'll even jump up into my arms haha. When I'm sitting at the tab;e he jumps up on my lap, wraps his paws around my neck and smooches all over my face :)

When Krystal is feeling affectionate she'll walk up to me (I'm normally sitting at the computer desk) and she stands up on her hind legs and taps my arm with her paw. If i say no she gets down and walks away, otherwise she'll jump up and lean all over me. If I don't pat her the whole time she's sitting on me she reaches up and gently taps my face.

Our dogs are good, Max is 5 years old, we've had him since he was 7 weeks. He's very playful and will lick you to death. He's a Ridgeback Rottweiler cross. Rosie is a Boxer Standhound cross, she's almost 12 months old and sometimes pulls washing off the line but she's learning. She loves our male cat, if you open the door she'll lick his head and he rubs his face on her nose. Here's a short video of the two of them:

The black and white cat is Krystal, the other one is Sam. The tan coloured dog is Max, the other is Rosie.
