i would help if i could figure out what youre on about lol

Well theres your problem right there you've had your heat mat on for 42weeks!

Unfortunately i'm with shell477 and i'm a-bit confused.

First answer is simple
Check the temp of your heat mat..... It may simply be too hot and it will know this so it avoids the mat
Second
Snakes tell us what they want by thermo regulating ie finding the temp they want to be in
so it is possibly quite happy at 22.4
Third
Some snakes are seen drinking very rarely so dont worry about it
Just make sure there is clean water available if it wants some

so let me get this right. you have had your python for over 14months and have never seen her go for a swim in her water bowl, that is untill today. Right so far? You have had the heat mat turned on for 2 weeks now and you think she is not use to the temp? What sort of python do you have? How old is it? What size is the enclosre? When you say home do you mean in her hide or in her enclosure? Also what gives you the impression that she dose not like the temp? is she constantly moving around? Personally i only every have my enclosure at 22c when they are in the night time temp drop. With these questions answered im pretty sure you can get the info you need.

Ahhh, so it was Balinese!!!

I think he's say he has a heat mat and the temp is 22.4 in the enclosure snake hasn't used heat mat and is now sitting in water bowl.

Maybe your snake has decided he likes water!!! Is it hot or cold in rocky ATM? Maybe it's not cold enough yet or maybe she goes on her heat mat when your snoring!!!

wow when i started typing my responce to this there was only one other reply. damn you lot are quick

yeah come to think of it my coastals never soak in the water. If they where people, my god they would be the smelliest hobos out.

i want 2 know is any 1 else python ant usin there heat mats as it comin up 2 winter my heat mat is plug in the surge protector....( she used the heat mat last year) i was thinki mabe its not cold enough 4 her 2 use it .... i change her water weekly

lol you're a funny guy Cockney. So you are asking is it too warm for the animal to be sitting on top of the heat mat yet? They will regulate their temperature to whatever they need it to be. So if it's not sitting on the mat it's probably warm enough where it is

You speak Balinese too! :)

2 pharskie my pyhton is a coastal and she is 2.4years old my enclosure size is 1500h.900l.500d. she kinda moves during the day, sometimes alittle at night the most time she moves is when she is hungry. she wont go into her hidy home.

That explains it!
Suksma for pointing that out
Cheers,
Kadek ;)

My Bredl's especially often spend extended times away from the heat. They may spend the best part of a day basking, but then spend the next few days up in their branches, away from the heat. Even in winter, ambient temp where they are of 15C or so (body temp not much different). Then they'll come down when they decide they are cool enough. Of course, I'm sure they thermoregulate more frequently than I actually notice, but still, they aren't adverse to the cool air (I would speculate because of the night temps they'd sxperience in the wild, whether or not that's relevant to a captive bred specimen I don't know). So long as I provide them with a suitable basking spot, they'll use it when they choose to.

Dude, she's eating properly, moving around occasionally, bathing and cooling and heating. Sounds pretty good except I would put a heat lamp and T/stat and raise the temp and see if she is more active. Is there any little white specks or black specks on her? Pick her up and run your hand down her and see what comes off. Excessive bathing could be mites.

Drop a thermometer onto the heat pad
It is probably sitting in the low 30s
Most coastals wont choose to sit in a temperature above 30C for long

she dont have mites and this the first time she gone it 2 the water i was thinkin she mite be comin up 2 shed thanks ppl 4 ur help as 4 baskin i take her out 3 days a week and give her sun
