Could anyone please help me with selecting the right Dragon for my kids. I would like to get somthing that would grow no biger than about 40cm and likes water as my kids want to put a small pond in the tank with a waterfall for swimming and bathing. The size of the tank is 5x2x2ft, Any sugestions???

beardies would probably be the closest handleable dragon to 40cms (generally 40-50),...but a waterfall in their enclosure could lead to respritory problems.

Id suggest a beardy as the temperament is great for kids. But please dont allow the younger children to handle it unsupervised. Scrap the water feature. Beardies only need a drinking bowl. Also ensure that they dont over handle it as this can cause stress related illness. Research, research research, is our best first step.

I can get central beardie from my brother as his just had eggs. i would like to get eastern waters ( for sale in local pet shot, 4 inch long and $140 ea) but grow too big!

EWDs are also not as good at being handled......I have both. EWD can display "agressive" behaviour.

would not be handled often but i would realy like to get somthing ok with water as the kids have fallen in love with the easterns but like i said, to big!!:|

My beardies still go for a swim occaisionally in their water bowl.......they also display lots of other behaviour that kids love like arm waving, head bobbing.....and they generally wont try and bite fingers off....lol

My Jacky Dragon loves standing in his swimming dish and having water poured over his body...
He looks a bit like a beardie(I ahd one of those too and he hated water) and grows to about the same size.... and hes a little character... endless amusement... though he is a little hard to catch but will sit quietly on my hand once caught, but the guy i brought him off about 2 months ago has never handled him so hes new to the handling, but he eats straight outof my hand now, so its worth considering a jacky dragon

beardies would be your best bet for kids, well tempered great to hold and watch.
not too much water thou, not good for it, maybe a small pond in the corner, but nothing big
