We have a small turtle shell lenght of around 12 cm, he has a small dark patch that feels a little soft to touch.
He has been to the vet and will be on a course of Anit biotics (baytril) for a couple of weeks, may also need his shell open a bit to allow application of iodine and needs to be dry docked except for feeding.
Has anyone else had to dry dock a turtle?
Is there anything we could do to make it more comfortable, ie different substrates grasses etc or just straight into a plastic tub?
Thanks for your help
Phil

The best way is to put a raised false bottom in. Into this cut an area to take a water container that is to small for the turtle to get into but big enough to put its head. This will allow it to drink and stay hydrated. If it is a long neck then use a longer dish and you can use this for feeding as well. Turtles appear to have a right and left differentiation so it will need to be accessible from either side.
Dont worry to much about substrate, just make it easy to clean.
