Eating, but won’t strike or coil

Hi,

new member, thanks for having me!.

my wife and I recently purchased a coastal carpet python (caramel morph). Great snake, eats regularly. However, he doesn’t strike, or coil around the mouse before consuming it.

is this common?

A couple of my snakes do this periodically.

Lazy snake, mine coiled first feed and hasn't since, no matter how much you wiggle it or anything. Some are just smart and lazy enough to know it's dead and not feel the need to expend the energy to coil.
