Woke up to an empty enclosure this morning. My 2yo jungle has escaped due to my accidental negligence. The door of the viv wasn't closed properly. We have looked in all the warm places, on curtain rods, blinds, wardrobes... Thinking maybe she slid under front door? The gap is only about 2cm, can only just fit big toe under it. If she got outside all is lost hey?? It's a jungle of palm trees out there! Not to mention the rest. I'm still having faith but wonder if she would come back home?? So devastated especially after the week I have had this just tops it off!!

perhaps set up a few hides in warm places and put out a few mice?
Hope all works out and you get him back! maybe others can help with some better advice

Don't think the worst just yet. Jungles are nocturnal so the best time to look will be after dark. You may happen to find him him exploring, if you turn off the lights, and then wait a while then turn them on. But where you have looked, make sure you look again, because he will be on the move from one spot to another.

They usually hide within the house initially, walk around the house with a torch each night. Once it's outdoors it's gone, block the gaps till it turns up.

She just shed last night too so will she be on the prowl for a feed? If she hasn't already found something last night. I'll have a look tonight and see if she comes out of her hidy hole. It's mind boggling she could be anywhere! Including out the front door under the gap :(((

I tried to start a thread on ideas of where to look for escapees. Some ppl responded well, but I've lost sight of the thread. But, I have had a few get out of their enclosures (touch wood I've gone a year now without letting one out :D) so I'll give you some ideas from where mine were.

I had a pair of stimsons escape their enclosure Christmas Day (thanks guys, nice present). We found one in a couple hours squashed under our DVD player. There was lucky to be one, maybe 2cm gap and he got in there. Very little room to lift it up and we couldn't lift it out because he was in there. We got him out, eventually. The other one was missing for 3 days. I cooked some chips for lunch in our oven, and the kids found her on the stove when they took their plates out.

Wolley escaped 3 times. I found him twice :(. First time I noticed him gone in the morning, then I had to go to work. It was dark when I got home, he was on the window sill. Second time he escaped we found him inside my husband's sub woofer box. Third time lucky for him, has not been seen now for 2yrs :(

Then my baby bredli's got out. My husband abruptly woke me up when he got home from work 2:30am, to tell me my snakes are out. One's tail was sticking out from under the fridge, and the other I eventually found, comfortably coiled up around the cord where it came out of my incubator.

My bigger snakes are too noisy to disappear. I always have something that gets knocked down in the middle of the night scared the crap out of the family. Someone will yell out "There's a snake out". Sure enough, big ones have prowled the house but I always have things just hanging around, especially up high that are easily knocked down.

I've heard other ppl on here state they have found their's inside toasters, kids pencil cases, pockets of clothes hanging in wardrobe, in the bottom of the wardrobe.

Good luck! I am sure you will find him.

I had this happen a while back, was above the garage door- lucky I didn't open it!
So remember to look up, they can get into the most unlikely of places!

Obviously start in the room he went missing from and pull the whole thing apart. Even if you have to take everything out and put it back in. I found my spotted inside one of my books when she went missing!! also maybe get one of those heavy snake things that go in front of your door to block the draught to stop him getting out if he hasnt already

ive only had it happen once with my jungle but what i did and it worked was put on the a/c and put a heatmat or heatsource on the floor and leave it on and i came back an hour later to find her curled up on the heatmat

If you have tiles or floorboards you could put down a line of flour at each doorway and follow the trail of flour in the morning

i had the light off after losing my childrens python for about 4 weeks then i went to bed and was thinkin im gonna get up with a torch and look for him i also had food out on the floor for him and sure enough i found him wedge beside my luandray sink and the wall. his body was just hang in out also took me an hour to pull him outta there. ull find ur jungle cuz my enlosure was 2 foot from my front door i thought nup he is gone but nope he stayed in side.

put a heat mat on the floor in a dark place with a hide on top, if shes seeking warmth, she will find it.

I found her!! I thought she was def gone put the front door but she finally surfaced from her adventure... U would never guess where!! Pantry in a weetbix box! Thank u to all of ur help, and u guys know ur snakes coz yas said she would still be inside and she was regardless of the front door being 2 meters away from her enclosure with a 2cm gap under it (gap is now gone) so mysnakesau, there's a new place to put in ur thread if u ever write it up about where they could be when escaped lol who would have thought hah I tell ya what I'm that relieved I have learnt from my lesson of shutting the doors of her enclosure in the dark I'll be more careful from now on!

Aussie kids are weetbix kids.....good on ya. Glad to hear you found him safe and sound. Yes I will definitely write that one up, too. :D Everything helps the next person find their houdini's.
