Hey everyone,
I finished my last exam on the 19th of November, thus completing my Science degree at USYD. The results are just coming back. HOORAY!
I have been dreading this day as failing one subject means going back to uni for another semester.
So far i passed 1st year linguistics with a big 62!. Not bad for turning up to about 1/3 of the lectures! I was unsure whether i would pass this one...
Other results will be back later this week!

Anyone else finishing school, uni ect ect etc?

-Henry

Congratulations, Henry! My fingers crossed for the rest of your results!

I have also just finished my degree (Biological Science), my last exam was on the 17th of November. Argh!!! Just this second I've realised my results may be up!!! Must check...

Cnngrats on finishing your degree John. What did you major in? i cant quite remember but molecular bio and genetics sounds familiar.
I ended up with a major in biology but in retrospect should have done a double major biology/geology.

A few places further in the dole que at centrelink

Ha!
That's the usual response i give to anyone whos asks me "what a science get you into?"

Liberated: A science degree shows employers you know how to research subjects properly, how to objectively analyse large data sets and to write a coherent report. Puts you well above everyone else (apparently).

Yeah, i just finished my Animal Science/Technology cert IV. peice o piss!! (except for the study part) :D

Thanks, Henry. I majored in genetics and zoology. I took all the genetics subjects available and pretty well did my head in along the way. I think you missed the day I snapped, it was a couple of months ago (the 'penguin day' to those who remember). I'm just coming out of it since finishing the course.

The zoology is pretty much good for the dole que, but the genetics could lead somewhere if I wanted to continue it, forensics being one avenue as moosey said... of course I'm silly enough to be persuing the zoology side of things, it's a little ironic that my main interests lie where the least money is!

Friggin morons at uni have stuffed up my student online account again (this has been happening frequently for the past three years, thanks to a stupid error on the part of some data entry scumbag permanently attached to my account  ), so I can't get my results  I am going to have to go in and abuse them again. It's going to be freaky next year, instead of being a student, I'm going to be one of the university "staff" just doesn't sound right! But at least I won't have to have anything to do with my $&%@ing student online account!!!

Going back as staff eh? you are a glutton for punishment. I'm not 100% sure whats happening with me. For the moment I've been accepted into Masters (Animal Health and Population Management) which is basically a conservation and pest control course. After doing that I'll have many letters after my name! "Henry Cook BSc (Biol) MA (Animal Health & population management)"
Brilliant!

What sort of staff position are you taking? Research assistant or something similar?

Yeah, something like that. I'll be working with grasshoppers :) They are very special 'hoppers, including parthenogenetic forms, very exciting. The honours project I'm hoping to do is on these 'hoppers and will be under the same guy I'm working with, so it will be an awesome lead up.

Sounds like you'll have access to a wonderfully free source of "very special" lizard food!
I tried getting access to the area where psychology keeps all their rats (used in 2nd year experiments). Turns out someone non-university breeds them and all rats are killed after experiments. They could'nt give me any, not even dead ones. Damn ethics regulations!

Just finished first year in an Arts degree. No idea how I went...got D's and HD's throughout the semester, so I should do pretty well. Of course my brain baulked in two of my exams, but eh, even then I'll still get C's atleast. :)

Well done to you guys and your science degrees. :)

Well for us younger people, the dreaded report card is comming soon. :(

Yep Junior is now waiting for his results. He need UAI 96.9 to get what he like. He wantt to study IT.
I hope that he will do well.
