Hi today I purchased a exo terra mesh enclosure for my pygmy bearded dragon so I can take him outside on warm days to get some sun.

I haven't got any trees or logs yet to put inside it after I set it up I put him inside it for a min just to try it out he didn't seem to like it much was running round abit scared and stressed I think so I took him out straight way and put him back inside his enclosure.

Would getting some of those bendable vines and a tree help him settle down when inside it i don't want to stress him out and scare him. after I had him back in his enclosure i took him out to show a friend that came over and he was abit stressed still usually he will be happy to sit on my hand or leg but he wanted to run and kept getting of my leg.

Ive herd its not good when they get stressed and start to run around it can cause them to die from stress is this true ?

What would be the best way to get him used to the mesh enclosure outside ? As i would really like him to use it now the weather is warming up.

Has any one else had this happen to them ?

deck it out with stuff for him to climb on and stuff, make sure there are hides and shade too.

And just introduce him to it slowly. its like when you move a reptile to a new or different enclosure it stresses them out for a few days.

Yeah I will get some logs and those vines that u can bend will have to check out what the pet shop has like hides and stuff.

I'm not going to put him inside it again until I have got stuff inside for him in it. Just don't want to stress him out or any thing like that.

If he gets stressed when its decked out is it best to take him out straght away ? Or should I leave him in for 5 or 10mins and hope he calms down and gets used to it inside there ?

i would leave him for a bit. If he is still too stressed he may just not like it outside.
My beardy doesn't seem to like it outside, whenever i let him out on the grass he just sits there looking at me dead still for 5 mins and makes a runner for it, when i put him in a large tub out in the sun he scratches at the sides so i dont really take him outside much anymore.

Ive herd its not good when they get stressed
lol

Can a beardy die from stress ?
Yes any animal most certainly can, if its severe stress than it may have a heart attack and drop dead otherwise continused stress will deteriate the animals health and it will die over time from a number of possible things, ie not feeding properly

I don't think ill try him in it again hes very jumpy today even out of his normal enclosure he wont sit on your hand wants to run away.

Hope he calms down in afew days and will go back to the way he was before he was happy to sit on your hand maybe hes just scared and thinks he is going inside the other enclosure I don't know :(
