A diamond i bought in August s suppose to be 2.5yrs old but she doesnt look that age at all.
Shes quite small and has grown a fair bit since i got her.
Shes feeding on small rats once a week where as she was only getting a rat "every now and again" were the previous owners words.
She shed for the first time 15/9/09 and then again last night.
Shes an extemely good feeder and will take rats and quails, fresh or thawed.
A friend told me she undersize for her age and that i should try and catch her up a bit.
Does anybody know how to do that?
Or do i keep going like i am?
Cheers DG

Never over feed a diamond or your asking for trouble!

we had a similar situation with one we bought as crood said dont over feed but you could bump the size of the rat up to a medium each week we did this but at the same time gave it more exercise as in moving around on the yard a few times a week for about half an hour as you dont want it to end up fat but they can handle a good size rat and after a few months put it up to a large maybe avery 10 days.....got any pics of your snake?

i seconded that!!!

I have a Diamond and two jungles that are all about the same age and from the same breeder. But the jungles are much bigger, this is decause the diamond had been cooled down this year and the jungles haven't. The breeder i got my diamond from said that its best not to over feed diamonds as this can cause problems in the future and too always cool them down over winter. I know this is not necessary but i think it better to be safe than sorry.

I wouldnt say that shes undersize at all.The majority that age should be around that size-length..If it was a great feeder from the start and fed every week until now, then it would be a little bigger..However that is looking ok to me...MARK

She looks about right to me.
How long and her weight would be helpful.
Aleks.

Ok thanks Mark.
Im taking a friends word that she is small as i havent had any diamonds younger than 4.
he has diamonds down the coast and reckoned it was sad to see the poor thing like that.
So i thought id ask.
Cheers DG

no point in cathcing her up if you think she should be a bit bigger, they can only digest so much at a given time. just stick with your normal feeding regime and she'll grow in time.

I wouldn't try catching her up. You now have her on good, regular feeding, just let her take off from there.
