Hey Guys, just curious on how much you would recommend feeding my 2 1/2 year old spotted python. She is about 1-1.2 meters long and currently feeds on a Weanling Rat every two weeks. She never bites and is very easy to handle, but would just like to know if this is a sutiable feeding amount for her. I live in Cairn, Queensland where is is hot all year round. She also sheds about once every 6-8 weeks. Any feedback would be appreciated.

that sounds fine to me, my childrens is 1.1 and she is eating small rats, im not sure if they are bigger or smaller then weanling... she could probably get a medium rat down as well if i wanted to give her one...
...
she is still quite young when she gets a little older you could probably drop the feeding back to once a month even, once you notice she is starting to get a little chunky, thats probably when you would start dropping the feeding off...
..

If she sheds every 6-8 weeks then it sounds like your feeding the right amount. If it's less then that between sheds it means you need to up the feed and if it's over that between sheds it means you need to downsize the feed so sounds like your doing good. That's one way of knowing it's the right amount. It also needs to leave a noticable bump in the thickest part of the body but not looking as if it's about to bust open. Also it should deficate (poop) 4-5 days after the feed. :) Good that it's hot where you are. It makes it alot easier for your spotted to digest in heat.
