Hey Guys, I am needing a little help if possible.... I have had a murray/darling carpet python for three weeks now and he is feeding really well... The problem is that he hasn't done any "business" yet??? How long after he eats is he supposed to "go"????

Mine has eaten every sunday for the last 3 weeks and I have nothing for the last two???? Is that a bit odd????

How big is the animal and what size are the food items offered?
What temp is the enclosure?

seems odd to me coz mine all go within 5 days, maybe take it outa and let it cruise around,it might stimulate its bowels and deficate for you or on you

He is about 50 -70 cm long the breeder had just started him on fuzzy mice and so we have him on the same thing. we have a heat mat in the tank with thermostat set to 31 degrees celcius...

IMO the food size is to small, hence no out put for the last 3 weeks as its all being used.

in my opinion :)

The snake of that size should be on a larger food item

oh and dont put your heat mat "inside" the cage it should be outside.

It's all good peoples thanks heaps for your help... upon looking into this issue a little further it has been revealed that when a snake is going through the shedding process they can sometimes shut down other body functions and concentrate all their energy on shedding, which is what my snake has done... As soon as he shed his skin he fed and did his business and we are now back to a "normal" routine.... Again Thanks heaps for all your help and suggestions :)

Its good to see you are keeping a close eye on the little fella.
Sometimes snakes can get a bit constipated though and if this does happen usually a warm(around 30-31degree) shallow bath works a treat.
