Hi,
I hope someone can help:)
I just got my baby red eyes and need some help/suggestions on the best feeding techniques.
I have placed a few baby crickets in my tank and the frogs just seem to ignore them
Is it best to use tongs and place a cricket in front of them?
Will they seek them out on their own?
Sorry for all the questions I'm just concerned that my new babies eat.
To anyone who replies -thanks so much for any help.
:D

redeyes are most active in the evenings, so offer them food then, esp just after a mist. Keep them under 25 deg or they will stress and stop eating. They should be eating heaps, if they are not, there is something wrong.

Flies usually get their attention if they are big enough to eat them, although they are pesky when they escape.

Thanks guys.
I got them from ACT and the temp has been under 25
Is it best to handle the crickets with tongs in front of them or they should chase down their food?
Can't see the crickets this morning -though in my tank I can't be sure as it is 45x45x60cm. Maybe a good sign I hope. Thx so much for your help.

As Janet said try flies and also try roaches, when we got our GTF'S and our White-lipped, one lot would only eat crickets and the other roaches at the very start. Just mix it up for them.
With young frogs it is recommended to try and have food available all the time.

Thanks to everyone for their help especially Meshe 69.
I placed one of the frogs in a smaller tank with some crickets and 25 mins later they were gone :)
Will try it with the smallest one tonight just to make sure he's eating as well.
They all seem ok at this stage.
Thanks again it has been so appreciated during a stressful time. :)

Flies are great and easy to feed small frogs, just put some pupae in a foam coffee cup, place a sockett over the top and punch some small holes in the side with a pencil (small enough so the frogs can't get into the cup) then just place the cup into the enlcosure and wait for the pupae to hatch (may take a day or more). It is a very cheap and easy way to feed high no's of small frogs and small lizards, allowing there to be food on hand at all times, though best done out of the house if possible, unless you are single and plan on staying that way ;)

Thats fantastic news, keep up the good work!

The other benefit with flies, watching the frogs jump after them is the best entertainment you will get!

Thanks guys so much.
I just saw 2 of my froggies eat crickets!! : ) (i don't why- I'm feeling very mother hen all of a sudden)
The other one is a little less active I put a cricket using tongs right up to their nose but it doesn't seem that interested. I'll be watching it a little more closely to see how it goes.
I've got some flies ordered and will try those too.
Again thanks to everyone -I'll try and post a couple of pics. THANK YOU !
