Hey guys, ive got a 6 month old spotted python.. had him for about 4 months now, been feeding him on pinkies/velvets but hes been downing them pretty quick lately, so ive gone and bought some fuzzies.. but I look at them and then look at him and think.. really? haha.. so basically I want to know if I do give it to him and it turns out it is to big for him.. will it do any harm him?

2nd question.. im going to start saving up for an enclosure and all the rest. (hes in a click-clack at the moment) so if someone could link me to a thread that lets me know the best size for an adult spotted, and maybe some pictures of setups, or even just let me know on here.. whichevers easiest.. ive just struggled to find a thread.

Thanks in advance
Josh

if the foods too big he will either spit it out half way or spit it out later on after fully eating it, when i first fed my snake a larger meal after a pinkie i thougth he would never beable to get it down but he done it no probs, im about to feed larger again with him tonigt. im ot sure on spotteds enclosure size but im sure they get to 1m or bit bigger so maybe 1.5m wide by 60cm high might be alright again im not 100% sure i have 2 womas they are more of a ground snake and should grow to about 1m or a bit more i plan on putting them in a 1.2-1.5m long enclosure at 40-50cm high by 50-60cm deep.

just seen this post too http://www.aussiepythons.com/forum/...lly-got-full-size-vivarium-141244#post1756473 as a stimme and spotteds are about the same as far as i know u can get ideas of enclosure size.

I have a stimmie and am looking at new enclosures atm. Going for a 1000mm h x 600 X 600 or close to that. I really don't think they need any larger.
As for feeding too large food, I was told by a breeder on here that its better to feed 2 smaller ones as they can damage themselves trying to eat too large.

thanks for the replies guys! .. Fed him the fuzzie, went down like a charm. Still wouldnt mind hearing a few more opinions on enclosure size though :)

my adult spotted is in a 3xft x 2ft x 2ft enclosure, i have a couple of branches in it and 2 peices of pvc pipe on the walls for hides and climbing .

hey mate i have 2 7 month spotteds housed in a 800x500x500 prob not suitable for when the both are full grown. i have heard that you should gauge the size of enclosure by length of tank= length of spotted, width of tank= 3/4 full length of spotted and height= half full length. these enclosure sizes are related to ground pythons. for pythons that like to climb the height needs to be the length of snake width needs to be half the length of snake and length is 3/4 snake length. these sizes are all adequete sizes but a bit larger is better. if anyones has anything to add or correct me on please be welcome i was just writing what i read in the book breeding and keeping australian pythons. hope this helped buddy sorry it a long reply haha.

thanks for the help guys! so when you say 3x2x2 do you mean, 3ft long by 2ft wide by 2ft tall?

my spotted python is in a 670 long by 470 high by 370 deep. he is not fully grown yet but i was wondering if this will be enough? i read a fact sheet that said adults only need a 500 x 400 x 300 but everyone else seems to have larger...

Mine is a bit bigger than she needs, but I put a lot of branches, rocks in there so now it's perfect, 670 by 470 by 370 should be fine.
