i have some that have fed on the day that they shed. others will feed afew days later if your lucky

How long after a hatchies first shed should I offer them food?

Been going through your last few threads.
You should know all this info before you started to breed the snakes mate.
I'll leave it at that....................
Hope you have some skink tails, quails and gold fish laying about, oh and dont forget
a lot of "patience"..............

God that annoys me!! People come to APS for help and advice and this is what they get for their efforts! This sort of post reminds me why I stopped coming on here for such a long time.

I personally know Spazzakazza, and how much research she has done. She has been keeping snakes for over six years, and has done about as much research as anyone could, for the whole time she has had her reptiles. I think she's read just about every reptile keeping book ever written, and has picked the brain of every breeder she has come in contact with.... and she still does!!! How much more of an effort should she put in before she starts to breed her snakes??

No matter how much research a person does and how much knowledge they gain over the years, it's a whole new ball game when theory has to be put into practice. So one would think that the most intelligent thing to do, would be to ask as many questions as you can once again when the time comes. And in this industry/hobby, if you ask ten people the same question, you will get 10 differing answers.

We all started somewhere, and all with the same questions... the only difference is; 5 years ago you weren't shot down in flames for asking a question.

Spazz... good luck with your little ones mate.

Your name suits you.................
Beleive it or not, I freely give advise...........:|

i waited a week after the first shed before offering food. Both clutches of childrens (19 hatchies all up) accepted their first feed, only one had to be teased for a minute or so.

from what i have read 7-10 days minimum after first shed is fairly common. others have said they will wait 2 weeks. good luck getting them feeding.

With everything to do with reptiles theres no basic right answer, what works for me may not work for others....IMO with hatchies once they shed and you leave them for a couple weeks they get a more aggressive feed respond..Each to their own..MARK

i think you completely missed mungus' point.... he wasnt saying she hadnt done any reasearch, but one would think if you're going to start breeding, you would ask all the necessary questions, before they hatch, right? feeding and whatnot would be pretty high up there on the "know before you do" kind of thing.

unless the eggs have only just been laid, in which case she's doing the right thing, but its hatching season, isnt it? i dont know, i only breed skinks atm lol
