hi i am dave...i have a cape york coastal python thats about 69cm and is 14months old, i was just wondering how to get it on fuzzy rats without chain feeding or rubbibg as i have been doing. as it will only eat pinky rats but not fuzzys on there on , i have to rub a pinky rat on the fuzzy rat to get it to eat it. is there any difference in smell between a pinky rat and a fuzzy rat? thanks :)

Hey hey Dave, nice to meet you.

Yes as far as i know there is a bit of a smell difference, and a texture difference.maybe try a chicken neck?or a frozen quail?maybe he just doesn't like the look of the rat?is it too big for him?im no expert just do alot of forum reading, and some others have suggested dipping in egg yolk first.braining it so some cerebal juices flow.i dunno really.

Hmm, that's interesting. Usually only hear problems of swapping from mice to rats... Which is a problem I had with my spotted male.
I have 2 x Cape York Carpets that are around the same age as yours. My male easily takes 2 large weaner rats at a time (he'll be moving up to small adult rats in another couple of feeds) and the female is just on weaners. Maybe you could try braining a fuzzie? If you're not sure what this means, it means to poke a hole through the skull of the rodent and squeeze it a bit so some tasty brain juice comes out.

thaks ppl 4 ur help ill try brainin it next time and ill let u know how i go by the way do u know how big cape yorks get as i cant fine poo on them grrr
