Hi guys,
I have had my first clutch of spotty's hatch and only have 4 of 11 feeding. They are 4 weeks old. Does anyone have any advice on getting the rest to feed or am I simply being impatient. My friend that also breeds only has a 50% success rate and I was hoping for a bit better.

try chick down and braining the pinky by pop a hold in it head and put sum brain on it nose you can also try puting it in over night.
50% is very low as most people i no get 90% i will lose 1or 2 a year out of 150-200 hatchling

I have tried leaving for a few hours, and withholding water for a day or so and leaving the pinkie wet. Have not tried braining yet. I was going to try scenting with some sort of lizard next.

You can also scent with fish, can't you? (Like wipe a goldfish over it)?

Leave the pinky in overnight...you will likely find more of them will feed like this before you resort to scenting...

I would definately brain them before resorting to scenting with skinks as well - you want to avoid skink scenting if possible as you then need to convert them to unscented...

Thanks for your help people. I now have 6 feeding and two more that seem interested.

i heard raising the temps a bit could help

Im new to this too, i found most of mine wouldnt eat unscented rodents first up. Most accepted skink or gecko scented rodents though and the other few went for thawed lizards.

Where did you get the lizards and what kind? I don't need them yet, but I might and I've been wondering.

In qld you are allowed to catch listed species in a sustainable way in your own yard. There are also exotic Asian House Geckos here in Brisbane and i usually use them. I always freeze them first too.
