i have my first juvie pythons and stepped them up from weaner mice to hopper rats. they ate them no worries, but even 2 days later they are stretched out in the guts. I am wondering if the hoppers are too big for them?

whats the next size down from hopper rats? fuzzies? or should i go back to large mice? or should i let em keep eating what appears too big for them?
thanks..

weaner mice to hopper rats! jeez thats quite a jump. fuzzy rats at best. but in the end, if they eat it, theyre fine. it will just take a good few days to properly digest.
would be good to work them up to the hoppers via fuzzy rats though!

My jungle is the same age as yours (and same size) and he's eating weaners and doing fine.

the shop only had pinkie rats and hopper rats. otherwise full grown mice.
d3pro , u mean weaner rats? they are even bigger than hopper rats! or weaner mice?
if rats, get a pic will you..

ok I'll post a pic my jungle smashing a weaner rat... in a few hours lol

that would look like a brick inside a push-bike tube

This is a re-post from another thread...

Feed you snake adult mice for as long as you can because they are FAR better value than pink or weaner rats. Why? Adult mice have fully developed bones and teeth (calcium), fur (roughage), internal organs (trace elements), gut contents, etc., etc.. Pink rats (or mice for that matter) don't have it, they are just a "bag of protein" and not much else. I hope it makes sense.

Great tip. Thanks a lot!
