Another fungus has already been discovered in tas early this year. And it's not just frogs that can be effected, the Tasmanian platypus is also susseptable to the fungus unlike it's mainland cousin which has had time to addapt to it. There has also been a form of 'pygmy' platypus discovered on King Island, so far only about 20 individuals have been caught and if the fungus makes it there the population is pretty much screwed.

Have seen a couple of frogs with chytridomycosis, it's about well and truly on the mainland and it's going to do some real damage to our frog populations. I had a pobblebonk in my care for 4 months before it started showing any outward signs of this disease. Thankfully it was the only frog I had at the time and was being held in quarentine because of it's unknown origins. If I had been unaware of the dangers of chytrid and took it down to the local creek ...............
