ok so i got 2 childrens and i just cant seem to get them to eat there a few months old now ive had to 'assist' feed everytime, i originally had them in click clacks but now have proper reptile one enclosures with a heat cord/tile setup with sand substrate (has hide, water bowl and large rock in both)

i just cant work out why they wont eat, i got them on pinkies..

ive tried rubbing them on lizards
tried live pinkies
tried warming the enclosure a little more i usually have it about 31-33
tried leaving overnight
tried alot of different things

one of them will strike grab it then squeeze it then just let go and leaves it

only thing i havent tried is pinky rats??

after reading thru numerous threads i just cant find anything else i can try

btw i had a jungle prior in pretty much exact setup that ate fine and never had a problem with

any advice would be helpful :)

go back to the click clacks and continue assist feeding until they eat. if they are assist feeding you should just have to stick it in the mouth and they finish the job. do that every 5 days keep them entirely stress free, warm with a hide in a dark area. theyll eat in time. quite often they will not like what ever you have been forcing down there necks, but give a few good feeds and then a decent rbeak for two weeks and offer a scented one. i have defrosted mice pinkies with a day old quail and that has worked well but some just need you to be persistent.

if the enclosure is too big for them they will stress and not eat. also if they have only recently been moved to new enclosure they will be stressed and not eat

oh i forgot to add, are these your hatchlings that you bred or animals that you purchased already established? if they stop after being established it will 95% of the time be a husbandry issue

the enclosure is 600x450 i might go back to click clacks see how they go

Hey Medz ,
I am pretty sure I sold you these back in the first week of February this year , so it has been quiet some time .... why have you not contacted me to help you with them ??
Firstly , the reptile one wont be helping you with hatchlings , sand wont be helping either ... I would suggest you put them back into small tubs on a heat mat , paper towel substrate , heat to 31-33 on the hot spot.

I did reply to your post back on the 9/2/2011to help you out but you never replied ..
Hey Medz , give them a little more time to settle in as you only got them 4 days ago , if you have them in small tubs with a hot spot of 31-33 degrees there is no reason they wont continue feeding for you , if you have any problems give me a ring and we can sort it out.

Whats the size of tubs ?
What it the hot spot temps ?
where are they located in the house ?
Are you handling them ?
How did you offer the food ?

hey brett, i should of contacted you
the tubs im pretty sure are 20 litre and i was keeping the hot spots at 31 degrees and they are located in the centre of my home (rumpas room) not generally busy
i handle the male maybe once or twice a week for 5 or so minutes but generally i leave them alone

Ok , put them back in 2L click clacks , you can get them from woolies they are 2L sistema tubs they have blue clips on them , paper towel , 31-33 hot spot , leave them alone for a week and try to offer with tongs , the more you assist feed the worse it will get for you , they had 5-6 feeds each when they left here so were feeding hatchlings and really should have continued to feed if kept as suggested.

Give me a yell if they are not going in a week or ...
