Hi,

I got bitten by something a couple of weeks ago and the make has become progressibly worse. When I was at Big Day out yesterday, my friends took me to see the ambos cause it was really hurting. He said that it may have been a white tailed spider bite. He suggested that I go to the doctors. We went to the hospital on the way home and they gave me a course of antibiotics because they were unsure of what it was.

It started like a mozzie bight now, its big and sore and spredding. Any ideas??

looks very similar to the white tail bite my brother received 6 weeks ago. hope you find out what it is and it dont get any worse.

mozzy bite?
go get it checked out and if you start feeling flu like or anything out of the norm go back

HI;
I would go straight to your local doc and get him 2 have a realy good look at that.
my mum got bitten by one and had a lot of trouble with it.
I got bitten by a red back on the arm and it looked similar 2 your bite.
hope it comes good.

wasp?? I got hit years ago and it was painful to touch and caused a bit of discomfort for a few day

Here's a photo of what they thought might have been a white-tail spider bite on my finger back in October. (It was definately some sort of insect bite(blood test). It spread all over my left hand, and also had heaps of itchy little blisters on the right hand as well. Took 2 lots of very strong antibiotics to get rid of it. Still getting a few blisters now and again, but they don't break out like the last lot.

Same think happened to me year ago. I was in discomfort and in bit of pain for 10 days. I have no idea what it was , but some people told me that it looks like White tail bite. Started as a inicent small moziebite and infection was spreding for first 3 days.
looked exactly as the one one picture.

ur bite looks not to good though AG, i would go and see another doc. maybe a bite specilist? can u get these?

Every unidentified bite in Australia is blamed on the white tailed spider.
It was probably a white tail that killed Harold Holt !
& I am sure it was a wite tail behind Sept 11
Crop Circles ? - yep! white tails

I don't think it looks much like a white tail bite or any spider bite to be honest, it would be very unlikely there would be only one puncture wound. Looks more like a wasp or something that stings rather than bites, hope it improves soon though.

I agree, White-tails cause necrosis, and the skin around the puncture doesn't look dead.

Not an allergic reaction to a bee sting, not after two weeks.

And you'd know it immediately if a wasp stung you!

Here's an idea: It's possibly a tick. It got on your clothes somehow, and in the night it started digging in. And you scratched it's body off in you sleep. The head could still be alive and feeding, or if dead, then your immune system is just reacting to the foreign body.

A worse scenario would be a more sinister parasite, like a screwworm fly larvae, or a Botfly larvae. Bots are transmitted by mosquito bite and can turn REALLY nasty. A friend of mine traveling with me in Central America got one in her arm and it became ensconced there and grew to a reasonable size. Barbara had a small crater in her arm.

Hope it gets better soon!

:p

It doesn't look like a spider bite, I have had a few including whitetails twice, didn't look anything like that. My daughter had an infected mozzie bite that looked like that, I'd go to the doc and get it checked, some antihistamine should clear it up hopefully.
