Hi guys, so i decided to go with the ' cheap and ugly ' incubator technique with the heat cord suspended on legs around pegboard, but im wondering where to put the thermostat probe, as it would seem logical that the temperature inside the egg box would very fairly dramatically from outside the box, was going to just put it next to the box but yea, any one care to shed light on the topic for me?

Thanks, Nick.

You can sit the probe inside the egg container or have it sitting on top of the egg container, obviously having the probe inside with the eggs will give a more accurate reading.

I have used both methods and they both turn out fine.

one thing i read to be careful of tho is.......

by putting the probe in the egg box, if you take the egg box out to air the eggs, the temps in the egg box will drop quickly. when put bak in the incubator the egg box will warm up slower than the incubator. once the heat elevates to that level it may be too hot and the egg box will continue to rise.

i really cant articulate this very well lol. i hope you understand? basically, u have to be careful of cooking the eggs.
