Hi all,

Can anyone please give me some detailled info on how moist a geckco laying box has to be?

Thanks,
Christina

Moist but not soggy, just enough to keep the eggs hydrated till you find them without drowning.
Coco-peat works best.

Take some coco peat, soak it until it has all expanded. take a handfull, squeeze hard until no more water runs out. Then add some vermiculite to make it crumbly but not wet. The gecko must feel that it will hold the moisture but if it is wet they will not lay there. Alternatively wet one end of the sand in the tank and let them lay there. You will see if they have laid as they will pile the sand over the eggs and some even lay on top of the pile of sand. It is getting late in the season for the gecko to be laying so keep them warm and well fed. heather

Thanks so much for your help! I forgot to mention that I am using sand as a substrate so how moist should that be? is it better to be too wet or too dry?
