Well, next year I'm planning on breeding my Children's python, if I can find a female, and I'm also planning on breeding my two Athertons. Now I have a few questions.

Now I know that Antaresia pythons are relatively easy to breed, is it just a matter of putting them together and seeing what they do? Or is there a lot more involved?

When incubating eggs, do I constantly leave the temperature at 31.5 or do I give a night temperature?

With the Athertons, should I give a 55-60% humidity rate or would, say, 25-40% be fine?

With vermiculite, I believe there a grades, like grade1, grade2 and so on, is there a certain grade for these two pythons I've mentioned or would, say, grade4 be good?

And also, how do I keep the vermiculite at the correct moistness? (Sorry if that doesn't make sense....

And, yes, there is google, but I can't find the answers for these questions.

Thank you.

mate dont worry about the humidity with the athertons, they are no different to jungles or coastals or bredli etc....
and you have to do a cooling process when breeding.. dropping the temps and day time/night time hours gradually. generally pairing up around may/june is fine.

incubating... just set it at the disired degrees and that it till hatch day..if your lucky and that day comes lol.
i believe the higher the grade of vermiculite the better, but i could be wrong...

your athertons are a fair way off yet so get a bit of practice in with the anteresia and you will pick the rest up as you go.

Thanks for your help. I'm hoping to breed my Children's python so I have experience they start with the Athertons.

Don't know about the other things, but Antaresia are really easy to breed. Cooling is as simple as turning the heat off at night, with normal heating during the day. Stick them together and let them go for it.

Start dropping the temps by 2c every 2 weeks from may and cease feeding so there empty when in complete cooling, eggs at constant temp of around 31c.
Most carpets are good in 50/50 water to vermiculite by weight ,but remember there is also a certain amount of moisture in the vermiculite when u weigh it.you need to use the larger by SIZE vermiculite when incubating.
Just keep your eye on the eggs when incubating and if they stay 'full' with out dinting in too much you don't need to add any more water and also keep in mind in the last 1-2 weeks they will 'dint' in dramatically as they are loosing moisture to hatch.
