Hi,
I currently own an unrelated pair of coastal carpets. I have had them for 4 months and they have bothed more than doubled their original weight (19g for the male and 17g for the female). The female has shed twice and the male is about to shed for his third time. I was just wondering what the average growth weight of these pythons are and when they would be old enough to breed. I am now feeding them both on pinkie rats once a week. :D

It all comes down to how much they eat,how frequently and the size of feed.Ive got 2 female Darwins that are sisters, ones a great feeder the other not so good. The great feeder is nearly twice as round and a bit longer. All snakes grow as different rates,as i previously stated it comes down to how much the eat. With regards to breeding they should be atleast 3years of age, depending on their size...Being Coastals which i think grow quicker than some other species,3-4 years they should be of breeding size and age...

Thanks Pythons73,
I believe my male is a fairly fast grower and their being fed well so if all goes well, i'll be breeding in 3 years or so.
Cheers

i'm with pythons73 on this one, i have had my coastals for 8monthsish and the male has grown about 1.5-2ft and the female has grown about 1.5ft , the male would be 5.5ft and about 2kg now female is 7.5ft and 5kg she has put on 2kg since i've owned her.

i just bought a coastal carpet python from the reptile club in school and it is 1.5-2' , about how old do you think he is??

All depends on how often it has been fed, I have an 18 month old coastal that is 2 metres long, another of the same age that is 1.2m, an 11 month old that is 1m and another of the same age that is only 60cm. All depends on the feeding and they all grow at different rates.
