Im having a prblem with 1 of my GTP's. He's spent the last week on the ground under some foliage during the day instead of up on his perches. He's still active at night and moves around. His temps and humidity are correct and he's eating without any problems. His basking spot is sitting around 31-32deg, during the day his enclosure sits at roughly 28 and drops down to roughly 25deg at night. He's got 2 perches that go from 1 side of the terrarium to the other (900mm), so he's got loads of different places to sit on his perches away from the heat sorce. Has anybody got any thoughts on the matter or any ideas to get him back up on his perches?

Thanks

Mate, when you emailed me with this question this morning, I told you that it's not unusual for GTPs to spend fair a bit of time on the cage floor. If you think there is something wrong with you snake or your set up, it would be good to see a photo of your enclosure. Lets see what others have to say but don't know how anyone can help you, that is, if there is any need for help.

cheers
M

Leave it here, I am not offended at all, the more ideas from other people the better.

My little GTP (who is no longer with me) spent plenty of time on the floor, especially when its cold or just after a feed. I provided him with a hidebox over the heat, and that seemed to be where he likes to be. I'll admit I did ask his breeder if there was something wrong with him but was confident in his advice that it wasn't unusual. Considering he was in good health I was not worried about him being there at all. He did have a health issue - constant prolapser - but that wasn't an issue related to him spending time off his perch.
