Just wanted to ask those people that feed outside of enclosures how long they wait to handle their animals to put them back.
Thanks in advance

I personally feed in the enclosure but my mate when he feeds them in a container leaves them until the mouse/rat is at least half way down and then gently puts them back.

I don't go near mine after a feed, they're still in that "feed mode" and would definitely have a crack at me! I feed mine in their enclosure, but get them out for a cuddle beforehand.... So they don't think it's chow time whenever the enclosure gets opened.

If you feed outside the enclosure you can pick them up to put them back at anytime. While the rodent tail is still hanging out our once it has disappeared. It's not like you are really handling it. You are just moving it from where it was fed back to its enclosure.

I feed inside the enclosure. Unless you only have a snake or two IMO feeding outside of there enclosure takes far to much time. Plus handling them after a feed can result in a regurgitation. I do not handle my snakes as much as I used to, but I wait till the bump is gone before I handle them.

I feed all three of mine inside their enclosures.
I can't understand why some people feed outside of enclosures.

But either way. I have had to pick up my Pythons at times after they've only just striking and coiling their food, or just after they've finished swallowing.
As long as your are gentle enough it should be fine.

Never had a problem with them having a go at me either. I consider myself very lucky.

I only feed my little hatchies outside their enclosures, just until they get used to eating without persuasion. What I do is use a Tupperware container with air holes in the lid. I put the food in and then the snake then lid and cover it with a towel. After they eat I pick up the container and sit it in the big enclosure. They make their way out and then I take out the container.

All my adults and sub adults I feed in their enclosures. I never saw the need to feed an adult outside its enclosure before.

i feed all 3 of my snakes in a feeding tub. The main benefit is so the snake is not on the ‘alert’ for food when you stick your hands into the enclosure J. For the voracious feeders, I gently pick them up and place them back inside the enclosure as the last tail is disappearing, before they start looking around for more. With the stimmies, I feed them in quite a shallow tub and all I do is tilt the tub back into their enclosure and they voluntarily slide back in. I prefer this method as I don’t have to touch them, but the SWCP is not a fan of this method hehe
