Hi all,

My batch of eggs hatched but one of the little guys has a cinked spine. Is there anything I can give it that could help it straighten of is it gonna have trouble walking and running for the rest of it's life.
It is only two days old and the batch has not feed yet as they still have the egg yolk in their stomachs.
Has anyone had this with their hatchies? What are the survival rates?

Thanks,
Andy

I dont know about BD's.
But i have a diamond who has lived a happy and healthy 7 years so far, with a crinkle cut spine :)
he cant swim, but thats not too much of a problem at all...
I think it gives him personality :D
Good luck with your crinkle cut!

Poor snake it looks painful.
Have you had it xray'd?

yep, was working at the vet for a while.
It doesnt bother him at all, always been happy, healthy, active, eats like a pig.
hes been to a few different vets and all of them have said hes in perfect health besides that - all it was, was a calcium deficiency at birth.
:)

In a batch of blue tongues i once had a little guy with one eye and a bent jaw.he survived ok and was actually more popular than the ones that came out perfect..must be 'the underdog' syndrome but everyone loved to check him out.

Heres an update.
It's still alive and moving around as it needs.
Here is a couple of photos of it.

This happened a little while ago. Just haven't been back on the forum because I've been away.

The others are all fine and fighting fit and have had no problems, even the ones that went interstate. (To the book and legal of course)

I suspect the cause was impaction which is odd because it was feed only shreded vegges and small crickets.
What can you do, these things happen.
