was going to get a smooth knob tailed gecko and dont want to use a heat mat if possible and was wondering if i could just use heat tape under the tank or on top of the tank and how hot it gets any help appreiciated thanks

BD, you can use heat mat or heat cord under about i/3 of the tank, however its important to connect it to a probe thermostat to prevent it overheating potentially cracking the tank or causing a fire. The probe can be taped on the floor of the tank and adjust the temp to about 30 degrees.

Your local reptile shop should be able to help you out with this.

heat tape with a thermostate should be fine although I prefer heat cord. Its super cheap IMO if you buy it off reptiles direct australia theyre a sponser on here and great to deal with. And super fast arrival.
