I know these are really simple questions but I'm overthinking something that I shouldn't be and I can save a lot of time by just asking these questions.

I am about to get a hatchling olive and am making a click-clack (first question - any size suggestions for the container for a rapidly growing large snake?). I have only owned older snakes in the past.

When making a heat tile do you actually secure the heat cord to the tile, or just simply zig-zag it and place the tile on top of it?
Do you use two tiles with the cord between them (I have seen some people do that)?
Is a heat mat a better option than heat cord? I just figured I would have greater use for the cord later on.
If I get a heat mat instead what wattage should I get?

Finally just a cost effective thermostat recommendation for a click-clack if anyone knows of a particlar type that they found to be more appropriate for click-clacks.

Thanks (as always) for your help.

Firstly I'd say, adjust the your click clack size to the snake as he/she grows. I'd start off with something like a 7 litre, then move to a ten, then a fourteen until you get big enough to put them in something bigger. When I made my heat tile, I decided to use glass (I didn't have anything else) and it's been fine, it spreads the heat over the surface quite nicely. When I made it, I bought a packet of small plastic picture hooks with the adhesive backs and stuck them so that the tips of the hooks faced outwards. I placed them at equal intervals along the sides of the glass pane, with each side at alternate spaces (so if I had one side going every three cm from the top, so would the other side, but it would start 1.5 cm from the top). Then it was as simple as threading the cord into the slots so it created a zig zag pattern. I know this might be a bit confusing so I'll put some pictures up.
Cheers Clancy
