Happy Easter ALL..!!

Just wondering if there are any differences between ceramic, infrared and the purple heat globes...? I know the amount of heat produced is determined by the power output of the product, but are there any fundamental differences between the 3?

Thanks :)

ceramic give off no light no idea about the diffrences about the other 2 apart form being red and purple lol

I'm not too sure on the differences, apart from purple globes being marketed as a 'night light'.
I'm sure someone can offer an explanation as to how (if at all) they radiate heat differently..

i use ceramic globes for the fact they dont produce light because my enclosure is in my room and i need some sleep at night haha. i find they stay warm longer than the glass bulbs so i think they dont need to flick on and off as much. not sure if thats true or not but i find the enclosure stays at a very constant temp

Yea, I use ceramics on simple on/off thermostats and was quite surprised initially how consistent the temperatures are.
I guess it's to do with the way they take a little while to warm up and cool down.

It is very hard as a newbie setting up an enclosure to work out what you need to buy. Im trying to do my womas enclosure now and have no idea how to heat her best(at the moment she is in a click clack)

As has already been said, ceramics are supposedly the most efficient because all of their energy is turned into heat and not light. If you use these make sure you keep the receipt because they have a two year warranty and I have never had one last the full two years running on an on/off timer.
The "infra-red" globes are at the red end of the visible spectrum where some people believe snakes can't see. So to them they are meant to be invisible. There was a debate about this a couple of weeks ago though and a lot of people disagree that they can't see the red.
The purple/blue moon glow lights only give off a small amount of light that could be comparable to the amount of light the moon gives off so isn't supposed to affect their behaviour.
They are the basic differences between the three. In the end it's mostly just personal choice. They all work fine but for some reason you may need the no light option (in this case I'd personally go for heat cord over the ceramics) or you might just prefer the colour purple or the colour red. Hope that helps.

Thanks...

I have 175w purple globes in each of my enclosures atm but am thinking of changing one in each to ceramic of the same wattage... I'll keep one purple just so I can visually see that there's heat going on in there and the ceramic for their efficiency...

I'm building 4 enclosures as we speak and I think I'll go the same way about wiring these babies up...

Are the lights waterproof...? Do they blow in humid enclosures with the higher level of moisture...?

:)

They don't blow because of higher humidity but if you use a spray bottle just be careful not to spray the globe. I accidentally hit a ceramic heater with a spray bottle and it blew almost instantly
