One of my mountain dragons eyes are closed shut. It seems she cant open them. She doesnt seem to be unwell. Just unable to open her eyes?

They arent swollen or red, just closed shut. I have wiped them gently with a wet cotton tip. Has anyone had this problem or can offer any suggestions.

Iam having the same problem with one of my 5 yearold male eastern beardies I have quarrintened him incase but non of the other seem to be doing it. Like yours mine is eating drinking fine.shedding ok just this shut eye thing. Had him from hatchling Has uv and heat spot.
Can anyone shed light on this for us

hey maybe you should spray some shed aid on it, it may have a bit of conjuntivitus (bad speller, i know) the shed aid should work in there and soften any junk up and its harmless to eyes ect i dont have dragons and non of my herps have eye lids lol but i think the shed aid is a good place to start it wont do any harm so it wont matter if it doesnt work
good luck

What kind of UV are you using??? If its too strong, it can cause problems.

I wouldn't be spraying any kind of chemicals (shed aid) into a reptile's eyes. It's useless anyway... UV light that is too strong is a common cause of eye damage.

could be early blindness caused by too long subjection to high output uv
they dont know their eyes are shut .
then again, if they are basking, maybe they are just resting.
what are they like early morning before you turn on your lights?

Stress and "general" sickness may cause a dragon to close it's eyes.

Would it cause them to keep them shut? If i pick her up (the mountains dont like being picked up) she doesnt even try to open them. She knows i have picked her up but doesnt seem to struggle too much because she cant see.

I run a 5.0 uvb tube on the enclosure.

The thing is that she does even want to open her eyes. Its like they are sealed shut.
