Oh geez, I feel your pain as I had the same thing happen to me early 2000 when I got my first snake, a stimmie hatcho. I looked everywhere and couldnt find it, then I went to move the tank and the little guy was curled up underneath the tank. One of my lessons learned!!
I have heard other people doing things such as sprinkling flour on the floor and checking for tracks, sneaking round the house in the dark with a torch, leaving food out etc. I'm thinking you could get some bedding from the rats (as it would have the rats scent on it), make snake hideys with the rat bedding in it (just an experimental thought). Your snake might be playing the stealth game if dogs are around, and night time would be the best time to search. Just try to think like a snake and imagine where you would hide in your house.
I hope you find your snake and best of luck!!

mine went missing for like 8 months and i even moved house during this time, then one day i got a phone call from my old house mates and they said they found my childrens python! lol i was so stoked to get her back, she had been hibernating in one of their kids bedrooms and was found trying to sneak from the bed to the wardrobe around lunchtime. she was really skinny and i honnestly didnt reconise her to start with but after seeing unique markings on her i knew it was my python and not some stray. i guess all im trying to say here is dont give up even if it has been months since your python was last seen. it will turn up when you least expect it to. p.s. mine is back to 100% health and looking awesome now just incase you wanted to know

We lost ours for 6 weeks. She was in a box of XMAS. One night, she just showed up on the floor. I can say to try putting a night light out and a box in each room, or dusting wall edges with flour to see if she is moving. They stick to walls, so follow the walls and see what that might lead to. She will show, they just do. We have dogs as well, but man, those littel snakes can get into most anything. We cried when she came back :)

Turn on the airconditioner and leave out a heat source.
Move the dogs.

my mates done it a few time and we always leave out some food and a heat source right near it with a cave or something so it goes in and stays there cause of the heat. alot of the time they stay still to digest in the heat source. got it back each time in the same spot.
good luck

My sympathies for you :( My stimmy went missing for 2 nights and i found she had gotten into the wall cavity in the kitchen :( When she did come out the next afternoon, she had a nice big fat lump inside her- she'd found something tasty inside the cavity- gross. Some poor rodent or extremely large cockroach met a bad end in there... i really hope you find your snake! Its amazing how many people have lost them. I was about to give up when mine showed up, and i know a lot of people have given up in the past, to find the a few weeks/months later. Good luck.

Not a bad idea if you haven't tried this already.

To be honest, I can't feel bad for you as this is the second time your snake has escaped, maybe you should either move it to a more secure enclosure or make the current one escape proof...

Good advice. Things happen for reasons.

hey all i found her 2 mths after i posted this she was found with a full tummy eatting wild mice dont no where she got to but she was under her tank around all the cords now i got to snakes lol thank u all for ur help

next step check her out from any potential nasties from eating wild mice

That's great news. So happy for you. Just curious, how do you know she was eating wild mice?

Maybe just an educated guess - loads of mice around in the last 6 months + full tummy + he wasn't feeding her himself. That's what I'd assume anyway...

Good to see you got her back, but yes, you need to escape-proof your enclosure...
