I have just relocated my 18 month old stimpson into a new home. Unfortunatey he has managed to squeeze his way out and is now hidden somewhere in the house. I live in a large tiled house with high ceilings and two-storeys which is fairly cool all yr round. If anyone has any suggestions as to where to look it would be a great help. We have turned the house upside down but still having no luck. Anyone had any experience with this sort of thing? Where is the first place they head? I don't want to lose him!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

At this time of year it will usually be closer than you think.... though the back of fridges are always a favorite, as they provide warmth from the motor. Set up some hides with heat mats around the house, you may get lucky.

Also the trusty tick of putting a brained rodent in a plastic bag and placing them around the house and sitting up at night and waiting for the rustling of the plastic bag.

We have our enclosure on top of our tv side thing (hold the dvd player and cds and stuff) and when our girl got out we tore the house to bits and my hubby pulled the fridge out and nope but then when he had a "girls look" behind the TV (which is beside enclosure) she was under the power board!! nice and warm, another place we were told to try is the VCR nice and warm there!!!

Good luck!

no luck yet i have done the flour on the floor, the heat mat with rock hides i have pulled fridges and tvs and couches and the rest of the house apart looking for him. i miss him desperetly. thanks for the ideas guy.

flour in all doorways, plastic bags around the place, try and get a hide that he can only just get into, stick a brain mouse in there, and hopefully when he eats it he is stuck in hide.
hope it helps.
when i first got my childrens i thought i had lost him after only 2 days. turns out he was curled up into a tiny ball on top of his UV light. remember, look in the small places, they like to feel secure.

Check really close to his enclosure. Look for tiny spaces he can hide in, even ridiculously small places. IMO, he's probably gone to ground and tried to find the first cosy, secure place possible.
