hi guys, iv got a spottd python hatchling that wont eat 4 me?
Iv tried day old pinlkies, by putting it in its face, but it wont take?
Iv also left the thrawd out pinky in with it over nite and it still wont touch it?
Iv had it for about three days now, and the breeder said it ate a gecko tail 2 days b4 that?, but i dont want to be goin and catchin geckos and putting then into the freezer:(
should i try it on crickets? or is the snake not hungry? its 2-3weeks old? can any1 help? cheers Deejay

Ok if you've only had it 3 days... leave it be for at least a week, let it settle in. When it is settled offer it a warm, brained (small hole made in head, with brain juice squeezed out a bit) pinky. Just kind of tap it on the head with the pinky the brain juice should give it a strong scent which will help interest your spotty. If that doesn't work you could try scenting the pinky with chicken, tuna, egg, gecko - there are many options.

Oh and don't try crickets - it won't eat them!

Snakes don't eat crickets so don't try that. I'd say leave it for another week. It's still probably settling in.

yeah leave it sette in for a week,
the the breed said it ate a gecko tail, than thats a good sent to start with,

Try 'splitting the brain' on the pinky. With a new stanley knife blade make a small slit on the top of the pinkies head releasing some cerebral fluid and then offer it to your snake. This gives a slightly different scent to the pinky and has proved successful for me in the past with problem feeders.

If its only 2-3 weeks old take it back to the "multiplier" that you purchased it from as i would bet the gecko tail would of been the first thing it has eaten, and that fact alone should of made you not buy it.

Once you have done this have a look for a breeder that can supply you with a feeding hatchie/juvenile that come with a recorded history of all feeds sheds etc.

I agree with Beeman. How irresponsible to sell a hatchling that has only eaten that to an inexperienced person.
