Hi all,
I'm in the process of mounting a rock wall in my new cabinet. The wall is made from sand mixed with fiberglass resin and is 3 dimensional with ledges etc. I have put the cabinet on its back put liquid nails on the back and weighted it down with a 55L tub partly filled with sand so it should be fairly well attached in a few hours.
The problem is that the width of the wall is less than the width of the cabinet so there are some fairly large gaps (<10mm) down the sides. The fact the wall is 3 dimensional means that filling these gaps is not simple since the back of the cabinet may be 10cm from the gap between the wall and the side of the cabinet (hope that makes sense).
I have been advised that expandable foam won't be a good option due to the fact it will be very messy and will stick to the wall as it expands. Aside from this, it is not the same colour as the wall etc.
Does anyone have any tips for filling the gaps? I have two tubes of rich earth coloured Selly's no more gaps but will need to wedge something in there before using that.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
