This snake was found near Pennant Hills, Sydney. Unfortunately somebody did not like it. Can anyone tell me what it is? I thought it may be a tiger snake but the bands seem very fine.

to me it looks like a young eastern brown snake the bands are fading which happens and the motled spots are slightly under its belly ...its colouring can vary from the brownest of browns to the black and greys ...becareful handling the head even though it is dead you still wont wanna prick yourself with the fangs ...

yer i reckon a eastern brown.. why do ppl kill snakes.. wot ever happened to "if u leave it alone, it will leave u alone"?

I only have the photos so I do not know about the anal scale.

u xcan pretty much tell its a snake by the shape of the head anyways. u dont see many legless lizards with a head shaped like tht
scrubby you do know that snakes have single or divided anal scales dont you? he was saying that because the eastern browns have a divided one thats all...
