i found this long neck turtle with bad shell at the back near its tail it was sitting on the dirt near a creek it had blood coming from its back side area and i was afraid if i left it the water dirty water from the creek would infect its wounds so i decided to take it home because its shell is in pretty bad condition any advise on what should i do?
release it back?
give it a animal rehab centre?
i dont really know much about the rules for helping wildlife in victoria so help would be apreciated

It needs to go to a vet for anti biotics and professional treatment. if it's wildlife most vets do it for free then may let you take care of it while it heals. I don't know the rules in Vic for that part though. looks like somethings chomped it's **** and it's getting infected now.

Australian freshwater turtle forum is a better source for info also.

If you still have it, give it a shallow bath in bettadine/warm water until you can get it to a vet.
