Hi guys bought a tank on the weekend that's 90% complete it's basically jut raw mdf apart from that it's ready to go... I just need to know what is going to be suitable to seal the tank both inside and outside also what paint to use?? I intend to use it for gtp later on down the track so it's not an urgent matter I do have alot of time!! Thanks heaps

do you have any pics at all
and what you asking is what to use so water doesn't get in yes??

I'll get some photos tonight and pop them on ... Yes pretty much water tight yet safe for future animals

did you have a colour in mind for the inside
if you don't i would put some vital flooring or those cheap sticky tiles you get from bunnings there pretty cheap and all you need to do is put on exterior house paint on the inside then put the tiles over the paint just in case the water gets through the tiles it shouldn't get into the wood because of the paint...
btw the tiles you can cut its like a stanly knife

Hi no colour in mind as all my other enclosures are white melamine ... Will any exterior paint do??

it should as long as it is a weather proof paint or water proof =]

if not you could like give it a few coats of varnish or clear coat if you want the wood affect =]

I might have a look at the paints at bunnings or something cuz I dint think mdf Is a nice finish lol

i have just used cheap high gloss spray paint [ the enclosure is airing out atm ] until it stops smelling .
ill get some pics , the tanks not perfect but it only cost $30 to make and its only a temp untill i get my other enclosures made. its 4ftx 2ft x2ft . the glass is double glazzed insulated[ i had a couple of glass pannels lying around ]

All our enclosures are made from MDF, We use acrylic paint to finish them.
We apply a good quality sealer coat and then 3 coats of paint over that, paying
particular attention to heavy coats on the floor.
