I have found a Blue Tongue lizard on the road - he appears to have been run over.
As I am too far from a vet (400km), I would appreciate some advice on how best to help the poor little guy. He has a bit of what looks like intestine coming out of his bottom and seems very weak.

If it were me, I'd put him out of his misery. If you can't get him to the vet, you're unlikely to be able to help him (if there is indeed intestine coming out of his body).

Crushing the head is instantaneous death. I too have put down blue tongues found on the road, and use this method. I simply get a heavy rock (make sure it is very heavy) and drop it on the lizard's head. It's not nice, but it gets the job done.

Me not knowing alot about the subject and i knwo your only looking out for the bluey but i thought it was illegal to kill a native reptile even in this situation i thoguth you had to call wires or another organisation ? (sorry to put my 5 cents in but i just read it and thought about it) :?

i had just recently taken my blue tongue to the vet and she said basically if she didn't pull thru just gas her the same way you do the rats that way there is no pain and they just go to sleep plus it is also easier for the person doing it.
