There was a moderatly positive portral of Herp Pets on Melbourne's channel 10 news. It featured pythons, a lace monitor, Australian tarantua and scorpians.

The interview was with "Up Market Pets" which I think are opposite the Vic market at the top of Melbourne. This same guy was featured in a news paper artical that somebody posted a link to a week or so back.

The thrust of the artical was that (city) people are moving away from anoying bits of fluff with 4 legs to more diverse pets more suited to city life.

They indicated that pythons were the most popular of what was on offer.

The only negative idea idea presented was that some of the animals can bite, they guy being intereviewed saying that he was quite badly injured by a lace monitor a while back when it decided to take a chunk out of his back.

It was a moderatly balanced segment particularly coming from the channel 10 news team.

Did anybody else see it?

yeah the reporter had a decent size Diamond wrapped around him he quoted but do Diamond get above 6ft and chunky? and at $1200 who would pay that?

Yes diamond's do get above 6 foot. Some of the largest Morelia spilota ever found have been diamond intergrades... big old snakes. As for the $1200 you have got to remember that this is a pet shop and these are pet shop prices.

(My spelling was atrocious in that original post? tarantula, scorpion. grrr?)
