There are too many disturbing things about this statement:

"If we let it go in the woods, a year from now it would be eating small children,"

I Agree Sdaji, but do you notice that

a/ the police were very reluctant to kill it
b/ the herp knowledge inproved greatly towards the end of the page

Yes, a/ was really good to read, but,
I can't agree much with b/, especially since they still published the article saying that if they let a 3.5 foot ball python loose it would eat kids in one year and that absurd worry was a bigger concern than releasing an African snake in another continent.

I really like that they weren't going to release it, even if the reasons are non-factual. Also we don't know the context of the statement, it is possible that they were being hasseled to release it. It is also possible that the cops were not aware that there are more than one species of python.

Dispite all the wrong info, I'm impressed that they did the right thing. ANd looks like the cop dept will now have a herp keeper.

Also remenber, this is from Florida the exotic capital of the world, people do release giant pythons into the wild there, and it is very possible that a child will eventually be taken. Just imagine the media-frenzy when that happens.
